about
'Maybe You Were Right' started out as a simple iPhone recording and evolved into a soulful power-ballad with the help of the talented Austin producer and singer-songwriter, Ray Prim. The goal sound for the song was a blend of Lake Street Dive and Brandi Carlile, two of Sidney's favorite artists. The song features Nick James Boettcher of The Reverent Few on electric guitar, Vince Wiley on keys/organ, Adam Prado on Bass and backing vocals by Andrea Young. Mastered by Kevin Butler of Test Tube Audio.
lyrics
Maybe You Were Right
Lying in the bitter darkness
After making love to me for the last time
Oh, Maybe You Were Right
Tangled sheets and crimson cheeks
Your burning tears they mingled in with mine
Was the first I’d seen you cry
You tried to wield me with your words
Didn’t wanna believe you, ‘cause it hurt
When you said that I
Will never find someone to love me like you did
A cast spell, and loneliness befell
All truth came to light
So Maybe You Were right
You were right
We dangled by a thread
I ached to dream but couldn’t dream beside you
I held the scissors in my shaking hands
Then I cut the strand
You tried to wield me with your words (Hurtful words)
Didn’t wanna believe you, didn’t wanna believe
When you said that I
Will never find someone to love me like you did
A cast spell, and loneliness befell
All truth came to light
So Maybe You Were Right
When you said, that I
Would never find
A spell, and loneliness befell
All truth came to light
Truth came to light
When you said (you said, you said) that I (you said that I I, ooooo)
Will never find someone to love me like you did
A cast spell, (a spell, a spell) and loneliness befell (lonely befell, oooo)
All truth came to light
When you said (you said, you said) that I (you said that I I, ooooo)
Will never find someone to love me like you did
A cast spell, (a spell, a spell) and loneliness befell (lonely befell, oooo)
All truth came to light
When you said, when you said, when you said, when you said
